Second Phase Of BNI Housing Project Completed

A 96-apartment housing project for officials of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) at Sakumono in Accra has been completed and ready for use. Last year, a-72 apartment was completed under the first phase of the project being undertaken by Amandi Group, an international construction firm. Mr Collins Dauda, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, who toured the project site on Thursday expressed satisfaction and commended Amandi Group for completing the project as scheduled. He said the two phases of the project had delivered a total of 168 apartments of which 32 are three bedroom units and 136 two bedroom units. The facility is part of government�s commitment to providing housing for the security agencies. Mr Dauda said the Ministry would collaborate with officials of the BNI to put in place maintenance system to ensure the facility was effectively maintained for future generations. Mr David Ben Ayun, Chief Engineer, who conducted the Minister round the site, said the completion of the projects exhibited their promise to execute the work on schedule. The Minister also inspected the ongoing multi-purpose offices and shops at Tema under the care of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC), and constructed by Berock Ventures Limited, a construction engineering company. He expressed satisfaction at the level of work, and noted the government intended to embark on a re-development exercise in the Tema vicinity to utilize the available useful spaces for development projects. Mr Dauda reiterated the need for developers to make maximum use of land size and execute projects that will have more housing units to benefit Ghanaians. He said the Ministry had interaction with the settlers in the area and the Tema Development Corporation to improve the Tema Township, adding that government was in the process of completing documents to revert TDC to a limited liability company.
