Man, 50, Shoots His Heart To Death

A fifty-year-old man, Nti Aikens, has committed suicide by shooting himself with a locally manufactured single gun to death at Asamankese in the Eastern region. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Asamankese Government Hospital morgue. Narrating the incident to the DAILY HERITAGE, the Asamankese District Police Commander, Supt. Anane Appiah, explained that on Saturday, September 27, 2014, the Police had a distress call that the deceased had committed suicide in his five bedroom self-contained house. He said when the Police got to the scene, the deceased was found dead in a pool of blood with a locally manufactured single barrelled gun in between his legs. According to Supt. Appiah, the deceased shot himself in the chest. He said, after taking inventory and the needed information, the body was conveyed to the morgue, adding that, investigation is ongoing to unravel what triggered the deceased�s action since he was a wealthy man with property. The deceased left behind four children and a divorced wife. He was, however, living alone in his self-contained room until his demise. Supt. Appiah expressed worry over the upsurge of unnatural deaths recorded within the month of September in the district. He said, three murder and two suicide cases have been recorded which according to him are alarming. He assured that, the police are working hard to clamp down on criminals in the area with a call on the public to volunteer information to the Police to aid the arrest of criminals in the area
