Woman, 52, Murdered

A 52-year-old woman has been murdered in a bizarre circumstance in her house at Kabiaweh-Kpono, a farming community at Ada, in the Greater Accra region. The deceased, Gladys Kaki Olago, a native of Kabiaweh Kpono, was allegedly strangled to death by one Julius Mensah, on Saturday, 21st September, 2014. Speaking on This Day, one of the flagship programmes of www.hedjorleonlineradio, the Chief of Kwabiaweh-Kpono, Nene Kabutey Debrah IV, who is also a brother to the deceased, narrated that he had a telephone call from his sister a fortnight ago to come to Ada whilst he was at his Ahiaman residence. He said upon his arrival, he saw friends and family members crying in front of his sisters house. Nene Kabutey Debrah continued that he was immediately told that Julius Mensah, who is an employee of Oyster Shell Crushing Mill together with his late sisters son came to the house of the deceased. According to the chief, the son of the deceased is also a worker of Oyster Crushing Mills. The chief of Kwabiaweh-Kpano told www.hedjorleonline that when Julius Mensah together with the deceased son arrived at his late sisters residence Julius Mensah asked to see the deceased. Nene added that the boy called his mother for Mr. Mensah and went out to town. He further stated that about thirty minutes later the boy [son of the deceased] got a call from the wife of Julius Mensah who informed him of the unfortunate incident that had happened. Luck however eluded Julius as he was detained by the wife of the deceased and the son before he could escape. The deceased, Nene Kabutey noted, could not make it as he was pronounced death on arrival at the District Hospital at Faith Kope. Nene Debrah then said he had the opportunity to speak to the offender whilst he was being whisked to the police station. And he said when he enquired from Julius Mensah about what actually happened, the alleged murderer told him that he proposed love to the deceased who accepted. According to the chief, Julius told him that he Julius and the deceased agreed to make love at deceased room. And it was whilst making love that the deceased started groaning in her throat. But according to the chief, when he asked Julius what brought about the deep cuts and why blood was oozing out of the deceased throat Julius could not utter a word. When this reporter reached the Commander-in-charge of Big Ada Police Station, Chief Superintendent Dodzi Hlordzi, admitted that they had received a case involving the death of a woman and hinted that investigations would soon commence. The commander further told Today that the police were waiting for the pathologists report on the deceased before they would carry out their investigations.
