Mr Bright E.K. Demordzi, the Member of Parliament for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro, has said projects initiated in the constituency were on course and would be completed on schedule. He said work had already started on the construction of Tuba Junction-Kokrobite-Bortianor roads and the Tuba Junction-Old Barrier as well as Tuba Junction � Sapato Junction roads project were on course. �Water expansion project at Bortianor, Old Bortianor and Tomefa are also progressing and will complete as scheduled,� he added. Mr Demordzi was speaking at a sensitization durbar organised by the Ga South National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the MP to educate the people in the catchment areas on sanitation and the need to observe personal hygiene. He said Parliament had approved a 37-million euro facility to construct 15 polyclinics and Bortianor is one of the beneficiaries under the programme. Parliament, he said, had also approved a loan facility for the commencement of the Kasoa interchange next year and that project would take care of auxiliary roads and gutters at Kasoa and Amanfro and its environs. The durbar, the second in the series in the constituency, was to raise awareness on health issues, security and proceedings in parliament. The first one was held two weeks ago at Amanfro. Mr Demordzi also announced that Amanfro and Bortianor clinics would soon be upgraded into polyclinics and commended the Chief of Amanfro for releasing a parcel of land for the construction of Information and Communication Centre at Amanfro. Mr Demordzi said the GHC400, 000 ICT Centre had been completed and would be launched by the end of October. �Bortianor is also benefitting from a GHC 52,000 ICT Centre from the MP�s Common Fund. Lagma in the Ga South Municipality is also benefitting from a GHC 62,000 CHPS Compound and a Senior High School project,� he added. He said Bortianor was the first community that would benefit from the Greater Accra Water Expansion project that aims at providing pipe borne water in every household in the region. The MP said plans to build Senior High School and market for Bortianor community were still high on the government�s agenda but is being stalled by unavailability of land. He appealed to the Chief and Elders of Bortianor to release land for the commencement of the projects. Some of the projects in the constituency include a GHC150,000 six-classroom block at Municipal Assembly Basic School at Bortianor, a scholarship programme for 400 needy but brilliant students in the constituency through the Social Intervention Fund. The MP also made donations to schools and hospitals within the constituency. Mr Ben Tetteh, Ga South Municipal Director for NCCE, said it was the right of Ghanaians to demand good infrastructure in their communities but it was equally important for everyone to honour his/her tax obligations to enable government mobilise more revenue to develop the country. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kwame Tawiah, Community Policing Department, Tesano took them through the process of forming a Neighbourhood Watch Committee in each community. He said it was a community initiative and urged the Chief and opinion leaders of Bortianor to come together to select people with integrity to form the committee. He pledged the Police Service commitment to assist them with training and orientation whenever they were ready. Mr Ernest Okyere, Officer at the Bortianor Health Centre, sensitised the people on cholera, causes, symptoms and prevention. He urged the people to maintain personal hygiene and try to get anyone infected with the bacteria to the nearest clinic or hospital as early as possible.
