Rlg Foundation Organises Blood Donation Exercise

The Rlg Foundation in partnership with the National Blood Service has organised its first ever blood donation exercise. The exercise which took place at the Forecourt of the Rlg Plant, Osu, is part of the Foundations corporate social responsibility. Speaking in an interview with The General Telegraph newspaper, Fraizer Appeadu Malcolm, the Rlg Foundation Manager, said the blood donation exercise is to stock the National Blood Service with enough and adequate blood products for patients. He noted that because there are usually a lot of accidents during festive occasions, the blood donation exercise is very timely since Christmas is just two months away. For staff of Rlg and Agams Holdings, it is important to give back to the community that we live and work he added. Mrs. Sophia Mellis Blankson, the Donor Recruiter for the National Blood Service, Korle Bu, said because there is no artificial substitute for blood, its demand far outweighs the supply. She noted that the Rlg Foundation came to National Blood Service to partner them in their course which they accepted. The National Blood Service can only get blood from the community. We always need blood to fill our fridges so we can fall back on them in times of emergency she revealed. Mrs Blankson commended the Rlg Foundation and encouraged other groups to adopt blood donation exercise as the corporate social responsibility. People donate money and their resources like buildings etc but if you donate blood the lees likelihood that maternal mortality would go up, she emphasized. The Rlg Foundation is the social intervention arm of the Rlg Group, West Africas biggest ICT and mobile phone manufacturing company.
