Afoko Not Part Of Alan Campaign

An attempt to present Mr Paul Afoko, the NPP National Chairman, as a supporter of Alans flagbearership bid has backfired badly. A story carried by Citi News reporter, Kwadwo Benefo, which indicated that when Mr Alan Kyeremanten visited Techiman to interact with delegates a fracas ensued between the MC for the occasion, who is also the Techiman South Constituency Secretary, Mr David Boakye, and Mr Ohene Ntow. The story went further to say that it took the intervention of Mr Paul Afoko, who accompanied Mr Alan Kyeremanten to campaign in Techiman, to separate the fight. Unfortunately, checks have revealed that Mr Afoko was outside the country when Mr Kyeremanten and his entourage visited Techiman on Friday, 10th October, 2014. The aim of the news item was obviously to mislead the public, especially those of the NPP fraternity, that Mr Afoko supports Mr Alan Kyeremanten. Daily Guide was at the venue and heard Mr Boakye loud and clear. At the end of the occasion, Mr Boakye went for the microphone and told Mr Kyeremanten that in any contest, there is bound to be a winner and loser and as such if Mr Kyeremanten should lose the contest, he should not rest on his oars but use his resources to help Nana Akufo-Addo to bring the party to power because the main aim is to win political power. It was when the crowd was dispersing that Mr Ohene Ntow approach Mr Boakye and told him not to ever think that Mr Alan Kyeremanten will ever lose the contest. There was nothing like any exchange of words, not to talk of blows. At the said meeting of delegates, which took place at the forecourt of the Roman Catholic Church in Techiman, Mr Kyeremanten admonished the delegates to vote for him so that he could wrest power from the NDC in 2016. He promised to resource the foot soldiers of the party by buying them motorbikes and bicycles. He also promised to pay regional, constituency and electoral area executives of the party to enable them work as full time workers of the party. According to Mr Kyeremanten, NPP supporters alone cannot bring the party to power unless the floating voters join the NPP in their quest to wrest power from the NDC. He noted that the John Mahama administration has seriously wounded the economy, adding that it will demand hard work to restore it to where ex-President Kufuor left off.
