Police Officer Dragged To Court For Trespassing

Mr. Ishmael Kofi Turkson, a legal practitioner at Agona Swedru, has sued Inspector John Kojo Botwe at the Kaneshie Police Station in Accra, and four other tenants in his house at Swedru, for trespassing on a parcel of land. Mr.Turkson is claiming general damages of 50,000 Ghana cedis as compensation, for inconvenience he suffered, as a result of an untoward behavior of the defendants. He has also filed an order of interlocutory injunction at the Swedru High Court, to restraint the defendants, agents, assigns, personal representation and others from further developing the disputed land, until the final determination of the case. The other defendants in the suit are Carolina Aidoo, a staff of the Nyakrom Rural Bank , Joe, Ekow and Paa Kwesi. The legal practitioner is also demanding special damages of 500 Ghana Cedis being the cost of trench that the defendants unlawfully and without any legal basis destroyed which he had dug. Mr Turkson said on August 9 this year, he had a distress call from his house that Botwe had come around wielding a gun. According to him, the other defendants were actively filling his trench, and therefore prayed the court to restrain them. Mr Turkson said he had lodged a complaint with the Agona Swedru Police who are investigating the criminal aspect of the matter .
