You Cant Change Vehicle Colours DCOP Awuni

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Angwubutoge Awuni, Director General of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), has warned vehicle owners against changing the colour and registration numbers of their cars on the blind side of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA). That, he said, was an infraction of the law and must therefore stop. Those who for whatever reason, would want to have a different colour paint must inform the authority. He said if this was not done, documents covering such cars would be rejected under the electronic road worthiness certification system. DCOP Awuni was opening a days training for personnel of the MTTD and other stakeholders on the new system introduced by the DVLA and said it would significantly help to tackle the incidence of car snatching by criminals. About 80 police officers from the department, transport owners and representatives of the transport associations from Ashanti, Brong-Ahafo and the Western Regions attended. Enhancing the capacity of the MTTU personnel to enforce the contents of the new road traffic regulations was the theme. DCOP Awuni said the electronic system has an added advantage of checking fake road worthiness certificates. He urged the police to be firm in the enforcement of the road traffic laws to make the roads safe.
