Bishop Obinim Sponsors Education Of Kayayei

The Leader of God�s Way International Ministry, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has joined the Pamela Bridgewater �Kayayei back to School Campaign by sponsoring the education of five kayayei in their hometowns in the north. The beneficiaries are aged between four and 15. Three of them: Nahima Musah, six; Lydia Aliu, five; and Regina Aliu, four; , would be enrolled at the Kpatarigu Primary School in the Mamprusi Moagduri District, while Fati Mohammed, 15; will attend a senior high school in Tamale and Adia Abdul Rahman will be, enrolled at the Gambaga Primary School in the East Mamprusi District. Bishop Obinim, in a statement, said education was a gift every child should have, indicating, �I feel honoured to be part of this programme�. Humanitarian gesture His humanitarian gesture focuses on changing the lives of those who are engaged in anti-social vices by offering them accommodation and better living conditions. Already, he has adopted 20 students, some of whom are at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Central University College. The Project Manager of the �Kayayei back to School Campaign�, Mr Abdullah Musah Alhassan, thanked Bishop Obinim for supporting the campaign. In a related development, the Communication Director of the Pamela Bridgewater Project, Mr Mohammed Amin Larry, has appealed to the Department of Social Welfare and child rights organisations to help discourage beggars from using twins to beg for alms. Speaking at a reception for some kayayei during the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations at Mamobi, in Accra, Mr Larry counselled the girls on the dangers of teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, their prevention and how to report all forms of abuse against them to the authorities.
