3 Elderly Men In Police Grip For Car Break-In

Three elderly men have been arrested by the Legon police, for allegedly breaking into a car at West Legon. They are Nii Armah Kwofi, 45, a trader; Samuel Nii Okai, 54, a painter and Joseph Kwesi Mensah, 52, a mechanic. The suspects were said to have used a stone to break a side glass of the parked Toyota Corolla and stolen two bags containing shirts, documents and Gh�125. Hot chase After stealing the items, the three men attempted to get away in another car but they were given a hot chase by the victim and his friend and with the support of the Legon Police, they were arrested. Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Legon District Police Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent (ASP) Favour Fleischer-Ackon, said at 9a.m., on October 17, 2014, the victim had gone to visit his friend at West Legon where he parked his car in front of the house. �While the victim was inside the friend�s house, he heard some noise outside and he rushed out, only to detect that Kwofi had used a stone to break the side glass of the vehicle and taken two bags,� she said. She said the two others, who were waiting in the Kia Spectra Saloon car with registration number GR5219-13, sped off immediately Kwofi sat in the car and threw the bags out of the car on to the road. According to ASP Fleischer-Ackon, the victim and his friend gave the men a hot chase while they called the police to assist them. The police have since impounded the car used for the escapade for further investigations.
