Were Interested In Not Just Expressions"; But Quantum & Quality Of Definitive Investments

President John Dramani Mahama may have led the countrys investment drive in the UK last week, with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) enticing investors in that regard, but some believe the jury will still be out about the expediency of such moves until definitive commitments are made and evidence of the investments seen. Thus, it was perhaps therefore not surprising, when news went viral that some Ghanaians in the UK have picketed the venue of an investment forum decrying the current economic conditions, irrespective of the goodness of such business gatherings. Eitherway, the Chief Executive Officer of the GIPC, Mrs Mawuena Trebarh concedes it is incumbent that evidence of her outfits investment missions do not end with just expressions of interest, but translate into tangibles. A rather modest Mawuena Trebarh stated that though she agrees all Ghana events (in the UK) since the start of last week were over-subscribed, with huge out-pouring of interest from investors, the true test of success, is in the quantum and quality of inbound missions; people who are now going to make the trip to Ghana and follow through on executing the investment that theyve looked at. Speaking to Peacefmonlines Nana Kwadwo Asante on the sidelines at the just-ended UK-Ghana Trade and Investment Forum in London, she indicated that we have quite a long list of people who we are going to be expecting in the country in the coming months as a result of our interactions. So its more than just talking to people, its having spoken persuasively enough that they are now prepared to come into the country and invest. The GIPC boss also lauded President Mahamas drive in leading some of these investment initiatives. were very focused on performance. When we go out on investment missions we have to be able to demonstrate that for flying out here and expending resources on being here who have been able to bring back this many people who have put forward not just expressions of interest but have started the process of registering to roll out their investmentwe are very excited and were looking forward to the continued foresight and leadership of His Excellency Prez Mahama in driving these investment interventions. It always different when he is present and personally speaks to these very specific projects, she added. Asked what she thinks has aided in making the GIPCs investment drive quite successful, Mrs Trebarh stated; the other element also is the support weve had from the various ministries; the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance.and being able to showcase very specific projects and just talking about opportunities.that I think is what has made us very appealing.
