The Petroleum Commission, Ghana has begun negotiations with stakeholders to get striking workers on the floating production, storage and offshore vessel at the Jubilee Fields to resume work. According to the Commission, the strike action may have a �catastrophic� effect on the country. �FPSO [Kwame Nkrumah] is a strategic national asset,� said Kweku Boateng, Director of Special Service of the Petroleum Commission. In an interview with TV3�s Sandra Amarquaye on Thursday, Mr Boateng added that they made it clear to workers they cannot continue to strike while the negotiations are ongoing. �We had a meeting with Tullow [and] we also had discussions with MODEC and the Secretary of the General Transport and Petroleum Workers Union.� About 25 workers of MODEC Ghana Limited embarked on an industrial action on Wednesday over what they described as disparities in salaries between them and expatriate workers. �If I can stand on the assurance [on Wednesday], once the discussion began this morning we expect the strike action to be called off.�
