If I Have To Choose A Party, I'll Join CPP Duncan Williams

The General Overseer of the Christian Action Faith Ministries, Nicholas Duncan-Williams has said that as a clergyman he is non-partisan but if he has to choose a political party, it will not be the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC). "I am not NDC!... If I ever decide to go into politics I will join my father's party - the CPP [Convention People's Party." The popular Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams was speaking on Joy FM on Monday transmitted from the headquarters of the Church on the Spintex Road in Accra. In a rare explanation of his political roots, he said people may perceive him to be NDC because the former Health Minister in the Jerry Rawlings-led NDC government, Dr. Mary Grant is his aunt. It is also widely known that the Archbishop has a great friendship with former President Jerry John Rawlings. Nonetheless, for a pioneering charismatic leader of over 20,000 members having connections in any government should be expected. I have always had people in governmentI have friends and families in NDC, NPP and CPP, he noted. But truly, his heart is where his father was the pioneering General Secretary of the CPP in Kumasi in the Ashanti region, he revealed. I voted for CPP even though I knew they wont win, he said pointing out I believe in a lot of things Kwame Nkrumah [Ghanas first president] stood for.
