About 15 people between the ages of 30 to 42 sustained various degree of cutlass and musket wounds following the celebration of the Fire (Bugum) Festival in Tamale on Monday night. They were rushed to Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) where some were treated and discharged, with six of them on admission due to the severity of the injuries. Mr Misbao Mohammed, Public Relations Officer of TTH, who briefed Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, said one of the injured was being prepared to undergo surgery. He said the injured sustained deep wounds on the arms and legs because of the way they fired the muskets. Bugum Festival is celebrated by the Dagombas where the people light combustible materials and carry them in groups and march through the streets.
