A Parks and Gardens staff working at the Flag Staffs House Presidential Villa has been put before an Accra Circuit Court for stealing from the Presidential Villa. Kojo Dwamena aka Obama who is a Gardener from the Parks and Gardens attached to the Presidential Villa is said to have stolen four DSTV Decoders valued GH₡1,865.00, three Sumsung Home Theaters valued at GH₡4,500.00 and one based system valued at $2,600.00. Dwamena has been charged with stealing whiles his accomplice Henry Kwame Dzamedzi aka Brown, an Electrical Technician has been charged with dishonestly receiving. They have pleaded guilty with explanation but the court entered a plea of not guilty on their behalf after listening to their explanation. The court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku admitted them to bail in the sum of GH₡20,000.00 each with two sureties each. The accused persons are expected to reappear on December 3. Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Aidan Dery said the complainant is a business executive and an installer attached to the Flag Staffs House Presidential Villa. DSP Dery said on June 5, this year, at about 0900 hours, the complainant went to the Presidential Villa to install some devices. On arrival, the complainant detected that DSTV decoders which he installed the previous day had been stolen. Prosecution said further checks revealed three DSTV decoders, three Sumsung Home Theaters with load speakers and a base system have been stolen from the Presidency. Complainant became alarmed and informed authorities as well as Multi Choice personnel to block the decoders and urged them to be on a look out. On November 9, this year, at about 1000hours, one Iddirisu Yusif went to Multi Choice office at Airport Residential Area to reactivate one of the decoders. DSP Dery said the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) was alerted and Yusif was arrested. Prosecution said Yusif mentioned Henry as the one who gave it to him to reactivate it for him and transfer ownership in his (Henry�s) name. Yusif led the BNI to Kokomlemle were Henry was arrested and during interrogation he admitted giving a DSTV decoder to Yusif to reactivate.DSP Dery said Henry also mentioned Dwamena as the one who sold the DSTV decoder to him at the cost of GH₡80.00. A search conducted by the BNI at Dwamena�s residence revealed one DVD receiver and a Palm Top wireless, which he said were among the items he found in the bush at GBC Club House.
