Sue BNI Wereko Brobby Tells Attah Mensah

A former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Volta River Authority(VRA), Dr Charles Wereko Brobby has advised Citi FM to sue the Bureau National Investigation(BNI) for questioning the CEO of the media house without his lawyers. According to Dr. Wereko Brobby, the national investigative body abused the human rights of Samuel Attah Mensah when it invited him for questioning on Monday. Samuel Attah Mensah was invited by the BNI over an online publication on citifmonline.com about the arrest of a suspected cocaine dealer in the UK. He was kept in the BNI custody for hours without access to his lawyers. Speaking on the Citi Breakfast show, Dr. Wereko Brobbey said the BNI should be sued for breaching the law. I think Citi FM or Sammens should take the BNI to court. This is not the first situation where people have been arrested in this country without their lawyers being present, it happens all the time but nobody has tested the law, he said. I think he should go to the human rights court and say that his human rights have been abused, because he has been spoken to without his lawyers being present, that is a clear breach of the laws of this land, Wereko Brobby insisted. The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) described the invitation as extremely preposterous. Speaking to Citi News, the Executive Director of MFWA, Sulemana Braimah wondered why the BNI by-passed the police in their investigations. Let us assume it contains inaccuracies and on the basis of that we will pick up the head of that media organization? he asked.
