An accident at Sofoline, a suburb of the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, has claimed the lives of eight persons, with five others in critical condition. The accident is reported to have happened around 10p.m. on Wednesday. According to the police, three passengers died on the spot, while five others died later at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Out of the eight dead, only one woman has been identified. Reports say the accident occurred when a DAF Container vehicle with registration number GR 7413-12, travelling from Abuakwa to Sunyani ran into other vehicles. According to the driver of the DAF Container vehicle, a brake failure caused the fatal accident. He has been arrested.
