Those Who Played A Role In The GNPC Loan Must Pay Any Debt The Country Incurs - Atta Akyea

Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Constituency, Hon. Samuel Atta Akyea believes the lawsuit against GNPC will be ruled in their favor to deter other state institutions from going against the law. According to the lawyer, the court should declare the GNPC's $700 million loan null and void and if in the process the country incurs any debt, those who played any role in securing the loan should be made to share the charges as a punishment to deter others. Speaking on Oman Fms Morning Show, he said he is in court together with his colleague MPs to demonstrate that the country is ruled by a law that must be respected. The NPP MP for Old Tafo, Hon. Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh for Manhyia and Abuakwa South MP are the three MPs behind the suit against GNPC, praying the court to declare the $700 million loan null and void. Hon. Atta Akyea stated that the loan the GNPC is securing does not tally with the Petroleum Revenue Management Law that demands every activities of GNPC to go through Parliament for approval. He insisted that the action of GNPC has dirtied itself and the country by going contrary to the laws of the land. We want the court to declare the loan as null and void so that they will know their stand and use the law in the country. If they have taken the loan already, they have to pay back the loan; every debt that this country may incur because of the loan, they should share the charges personally so that when you are taking a decision for the country, you will be careful. Whether the Board or CEO of GNPC played any role to incur any debt, they should share the charges, he stated.
