Ash Gold Rescind Decision, Confirms Participation In Africa

Premier League side Ashanti Gold has confirmed they will be participating in Africa next year. The Obuasi-based Club were considered to replace Inter Allies in the CAF Confederations Cup after the Tema-based side announced their withdrawal from the competition. Earlier reports in the media indicated that the former Ghana Champions had pulled out of the competition due to financial constraints. But board member of the Club who doubles as the chairman of Ashanti Gold Supporters Union, Mr. Oti Akenten in an exclusive interview with Ghanasportsonline.com confirmed the Clubs participation in the CAF inter-Club Championships next year. "Yes we will be participating in Africa next year. The truth of the matter is that we had earlier on planned on pulling out due to some few difficulties," the FA executive committee member told Ghanasportsonline.com "But after consultation with our sponsors and few Co-operate entities we have come to conclusion to participate. So if everything stands as planned, we will surely be in Africa". The situation thus sees the 1997 CAF Champions League finalist make their 8th appearance in Africa and their 2nd in the Confederations Cup having represented the country in the competition in 2011. The Miners hence joins Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Lions who have all confirmed participation in Africa next year.
