NDC Is Toying With The Future Of This Country - Sammy Awuku

Sammy Awuku, the National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that the admission by the Deputy Minister of Education that the implementation of Free education is possible is an attestation to the fact that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is toying with the future of this country. To him, the educational sector is a unique one which requires deep thinking before decisions and actions are taken. ..you can joke and toy with all aspects of our national life but not with the future of this country, because whiles you are old on retirement, they are going to be the policy makers whether you like it or not. So they get it wrong, you would also get it wrong. Today, NDC is accepting that free education is possible. How ironic! he said on Peace FMs Morning Show, "Kokrokoo". Sammy Awuku made this comment in reaction to an interview Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Deputy Minister of Education granted earlier on the program, in which he reiterated that Government is putting a number of measures in place to ensure Senior High School (SHS) education is free from next year. According to Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, government is in the process of constructing a number of schools and the first batch of 365, 000 students are expected to benefit from the free SHS education under a pilot programme next academic year. But the NPP National Youth Organizer is of the conviction that the admission by government that free education is a possibility is an indication of the fact that it has been playing with the future of this country all this while.
