3 Killed In Gory Accident

THREE PERSONS, including a nine-month-old pregnant woman, died on the spot after three vehicles crashed at Abrankese near Kuntenase in the Bosomtwi District of the Ashanti Region at about 4:30pm on Saturday, December 6, 2014. The bodies of the deceased persons identified as Ama Yeboah, the pregnant woman, 36, Papa Yaw, 30 and Bright Owusu, 25, have been deposited at the St Michael�s Hospital morgue at Pramso. The accident involved a Kia Asia bus registered AS 1904 Y, belonging to the Atonsu Agogo branch of the Church of Christ, a Toyota Corolla Salon car registered as GW 4829 P and a Nissan Urvan passenger bus with registration number AS 356 � 10. Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, an eyewitness said the church bus which was loaded with mourners was returning from a funeral at Manso Abore and was heading towards Sewua. On reaching Abrankese near Kuntenase, the bus in an attempt to overtake the mini urvan bus hit its rear, and in the process veered off the road, colliding with the Toyota Corolla Salon car which was heading towards Kuntenase from Kumasi. The magnitude of the impact completely ripped off the roof of the Salon car, killing one of its occupants and finally crashing into a house, killing the pregnant woman and injuring two other men who were in the kitchen of the house. All passengers onboard the cars, numbering over 45, and the two men who survived the accident were immediately rushed to the St Michael�s Hospital for medical attention. While some of them were treated and discharged, others were still receiving treatment. Superintendent Benjamin K. Gyasi, the Kuntenanse District Police Commander, who confirmed the accident, said all the cars had been towed to the police station for investigations.
