NPPs Bad Vote Buying Habit Creeping into The NDC

Allegations of vote buying, which had been the preserve of the opposition NPP for a long time has reared its ugly head in the NDC! At the just-ended National Youth Congress of the party in Kumasi over the weekend, allegations of vote buying by aspirants were rife with supporters of rival candidates accusing each other of indulging in the undemocratic act. The accusation and counter-accusation went to and fro especially between the camps of the two front runners, Sidii Abubakar Musa and Ludwig Hlodze. A video of one of the aspirants team promising cash to delegates from the Western Region soon hit social media. Many NDC supporters expressed disgust about the turn of events, pointing out that their delegates are now no different from that of the NPP. Vote buying has been associated with the NPP for donkey years. At the 2007 primaries of the party, allegations of vote buying earned Paul Afoko, a slap from one of the delegates of the party. The undemocratic practice has persisted in the largest opposition party till this day. At the Tamale congress of the party, vote buying was the order of the result culminating in the removal from office of the old executives. It also featured in the election that saw twice defeated flag-bearer, Akufo Addo elected for the third time to lead the NPP into the 2016 elections.
