General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has boasted that �he is surprised he has all of a sudden become the standard� for choosing people to occupy political offices in various political parties. This standard, he said, is a sign of the level of influence he wields in the country�s politics today. Known in political circles as General Mosquito, the NDC scribe said all aspiring politicians promise their constituents that they can beat him when elected into power. �All aspiring politicians in the country have always used me as the yardstick for campaign urging their delegates to vote for them because they are the right people to beat me�,� he said on Asempa FM's Ekosii sen on Monday. The NPP, he stated, is the biggest culprit in this case, as most of the contenders for various positions in the run-up to the party�s congress campaigned on the promise of overcoming him politically. Other aspirants in his party, he said, are also doing same but, �I think this will not help their cause.� �Whether it is the NPP, CPP or PPP that is going for elections, the candidates would try to convince the delegates to vote for them because they are the right people to deal with me, Asiedu Nketia�,� he said. But this idea, he said, would never work as he, Asiedu Nketia, would always better his tactics in politics to enable him remain relevant. He, therefore, called on his political detractors to stop using him as bargaining chip to win various positions they are contesting because they can't match him.
