Madam Helen Ntoso, Volta Regional Minister, on Thursday said the region was receiving its �fair share� of projects in areas like roads, health, agriculture and education and was not being taken for granted.
Madam Ntoso was responding to agitations in Ho from some youth groups about perceived government neglect of the region at the fourth general meeting of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs.
Before the minister�s address, a concerned youth of Volta Group presented a petition to the Regional House of Chiefs on the deplorable state of infrastructure in the region.
Another group calling itself Concerned Residents of Ho earlier staged a protest against the �bad state of roads� in the regional capital and other parts of the region.
Madam Ntoso said though the region could not say it was �self-sufficient,� it was making strides with the livelihood of people getting better.
She outlined development projects in health, education, agriculture and the road sectors and urged the youth to contact the Co-ordinating Council when in doubt.
Madam Ntoso said protest marches could not solve problems and appealed to the chiefs to advise the youth to exercise restraint.
Togbe Afede XIV, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, expressed worry about the numerous uncompleted projects in the region and appealed to government to complete them.
Togbe Nakakpo Dugbaza VIII, Paramount Chief of Tefle, complained about shoddy works on the Ho-Adidome-Sogakope road and asked government to act immediately to rectify the problem.
