General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia says some party delegates hurled insults at him at the congress ground in Kumasi. He intimated that some disgruntled members clad in red wanted to disrupt the congress because they claim he has not done his work. Speaking on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, General Mosquito as he is popularly called said he has forgiven them becuase his ultimate goal is to retain the NDC in power. Members of the ruling NDC on December 20, 2014 successfully held their 8th National Delegates' Congress at the Babayara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to elect new executives to lead the party ahead of 2016 general elections. About 3,600 delegates from ten regions across the country took turns to cast their ballots to elect 24 national officers out of the 70 who contested the positions. The congress elected Kofi Portuphy as National Chairman, while Kofi Adams beat the incumbent Opanyin Yaw Boateng Gyan to win the National Organiser position. The only survivor of the 'powerful three was General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who had an easy ride. �I knew some delegates in my party insulted me behind my back but what I am happy about is the fact that those insults did not go to people who will keep the insults in them and react later in a different way but rather they chose rain insults on me and I want them to know that I am aware but I forgotten about it and forgiven them� he noted. This notwithstanding, General Mosquito said he is not purturbed since his ultimate aim is to discharge his duty to the best of his ability. Mr. Asiedu Nketia reiterated its need to work hand in hand with the newly executives of the NDC. �I can assure the people of Ghana that these newly elected executives will really work assiduously to maintain our party in the coming elections. Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should start running because the team is a very solid team who are ready to work� he warned.
