Man Kills Son On Xmas Day

The people of Elmina in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region were on Christmas day hit with a shocking news of a father having allegedly strangled his seven-month-old baby boy to death. The 20-year-old father, Ernest Annan, purportedly killed the baby, put him in a sack and was getting ready to dispose of the corpse when he was caught by the wife. She then called on the neighbours to cause his arrest. The suspect is expected to be put before a circuit court today, Monday, while the baby had since been buried. Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the mother-in-law of the suspect, Auntie Abena, stated that Annan, who was sleeping in a room together with the wife and the child, said the room was too hot and needed some fresh air outside. He therefore took the baby along with him and allegedly strangled him to death. She said the incident happened around 11pm. Aunti Abena said Maame Esi, who was waiting for the return of her son, went outside to see her husband carrying a sack a situation which compelled her to shout at her husband requesting for the whereabouts of her son. She added that Annan, who looked very frightened, then dropped the sack and took to his heels, thereby attracting some residents to chase him up. Auntie Abena hinted that it took the intervention of a taxi driver to arrest the suspect whom he handed over to the police. Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicates that Maame Esi had been staying with her mother since she gave birth to the baby and did not have any problem with the husband, making most of the people around wonder why the suspect did that.
