Eleven Suspect Arrested In Swoop At Aflao

Eleven suspected criminals were on Tuesday rounded up in a police swoop at what police said were suspected criminal dens at Aflao and Denu in the Volta Region. Compressed parcels, dozens of wrappings of suspected Indian hemp, sachets of alcoholic drinks, a cutlass and two hammers were seized from them. The suspects, aged between 20 and 50, are Godwin Agbodzeke, a barber, Sanu Adams, student, Modzaka Wisdom, a driver, Lucky Dzila, a kente weaver and Patrick Amenuve, unemployed. The rest are Anthony Apeviaku, Edem Adzigbli, Ishmael Agbavor, Romeo Akakpo, Wisdom Aheto and Anthony Kudowu, all unemployed. An Aflao Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr. Kojo Kojo Frimpong-Manso, remanded them in police custody to reappear January 6. They all pleaded not guilty to illegal possession of narcotic drugs. Mr. Augustine Luguyare, the Aflao District Police Commander, told the GNA that the suspects were picked up at dens at main Aflao border, Viepe, Avakorme, Denu and Tokor.
