In a bid to put smiles on many faces during Christmas festivities, Vodafone Ghana has extended its CSR initiative, Bring a Cheer to Your Community to December 30, 2014. Bring a Cheer to Your Community is part of Vodafones efforts to fund development projects that contribute to the quality of life in rural communities across the country. The Christmas initiative allows Non-Governmental organisations and social entrepreneurs to submit proposals on community development projects focused on health, education, children and entrepreneurship. Speaking on the significance of this campaign, Nana Yaa Ofori-Koree, Head of Vodafone Ghana Foundation and Sustainability said: Advancing initiatives that improve the lives of people within the various communities is our priority and we will continue to identify opportunities to deliver this throughout the country. Over the years, the company has introduced ground-breaking programmes such as Vodafone Healthline, a television health show and Vodafone Healthfest, a free health screening programme which has been beneficial to more than 5,000 Ghanaians across the regions by providing free screening for hypertension, hepatitis B, Diabetes, HIV and others. Vodafone also launched Ghanas first medical call centre, Healthline 255, run by qualified doctors and nurses, to educate people against self-medication, encourage early diagnosis and treatment and to provide expert advice and dispel health myths.
