Mr Charles Aheto-Tsegah, Acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service, has lauded teachers and other workers in the education sector for their sterling qualities and professional competence in 2014, despite the challenges.
In a seasonal message copied to the GNA on Monday, Mr Aheto-Tsegah said, however, that there was still room for improvement and urged them not to be complacent in the discharge of their duties.
��As educators and nation builders, we have a collective responsibility in our quest to provide a solid foundation for the future of our children, so we need to go the extra mile to impart the noble virtues, skills and knowledge we possess to the children so that when they grow up they will not depart from the rich culture of this nation.
�It is my fervent hope that in striving for the best, we should be able to overcome our seemingly difficult and challenging circumstances,� he said.
He also advised them to count their modest success and blessing of 2014 and to put its failures behind them whenever they encountered any setbacks in the New Year.
�As we rejoice and celebrate this wonderful season of Christmas and the New Year, my dear countrymen and women, let our resolve be how best to contribute our quota to quality education for our children. In doing this we should do away with teacher absenteeism, lateness, laziness, drunkenness and other vices which are formidable obstacles to sound upbringing of the youth.
�I call on our stakeholders in education, development partners and our illustrious sons and daughters of our beloved country, Ghana, not to rest on their oars, but to be poised to make the years ahead much better and more fulfilling than the previous ones,� Mr Aheto-Tsegah said.
�Finally, I wish you all a Great, Prosperous, Blissful, Healthy, Bright, Delightful, and Energetic Merry Christmas and most Happy New Year in advance.�
