Information available to peacefmonline.com indicates that the lady at the centre of the cocaine saga; Nayele Ametefe also known as Ruby Adu Gyamfi is likely to have her sentenced reduced.
Nayele Ametefe was sentenced to 8 years 8 months in prison at Isleworth Crown Court, London, United Kingdom (UK). She was sentenced after she pleaded guilty to drug trafficking.
Judge Edmonds, QC, the presiding judge, observed that the crime warranted 13 years of sentence. He however indicated that he was considering all the mitigating factors the defense solicitor, James Scoobie put in, and that the 8years 8months was enough by way of leniency.
After the forensic report the court stated that Nayele was carrying 12 kg of cocaine and its purity was 79 percent. The street value of the class A substance was about 1.8 million Pounds.
Many are those who have expressed disappointment at the number of years the court gave Nayele to serve; to them the eight years eight months is not enough looking at the quantity of cocaine she was travelling with.
However, in a report filed by Vida Adutwumwaa, PEACE FM's correspondent in the UK on Wednesday, Nayele�s sentence is likely to be reduced.
At a press conference held in London after the court ruling, the court clerk told the media that if Nayele Ametefe puts up a good behavior in prison, her sentence will be slashed down to four years.
�The rest of the years will be used for community service,� the court clerk told the media, she said.
