I Was Misinterpreted; I've Never Said Prez Mahama Owes Me NDC Lawyer

A member of President John Mahamas legal team in the 2012 election petition case, George Tetteh Wayoe who was reported to have demanded payment for services rendered during the hearing, has denied the story describing it as unfortunate. The young lawyer, who claims to be part of the media team led by Nana Ato Dadzie and Alex Segbefia stated categorically that he was misinterpreted when he rather appealed to the President to come to his aid. I have never said anywhere that the president owes me and he should pay me for my services. All I was trying to say is that, when humanity is out there defending a good course, he must be appreciated, he noted. Lawyer Wayoe had earlier said he joined the President's team in February 2013 and spent a total amount of GH62,000 as a result of commuting in taxi cabs to visit media houses daily, particularly Multi TV and TV3, to explain the defendants' case during the petition hearing. He questioned why all the lawyers involved in the defence including Tsatsu Tsikata, Nana Ato Dadzie and Tony Lithur have been rewarded except him. But the National Democratic Congress (NDC) rejected claims made by Lawyer Wayoe that he was a member of President John Mahamas legal team during the 2012 election petition. However, speaking on Adom FM, Tuesday, the frustrated lawyer maintained that I was a member of the legal team. He however expressed worry with the unconstructiveness of the issue by the media and has apologized to the president for the harm done his reputation. I was just appealing to the president, I never demanded money from the president or said anywhere that the president owes me. I have apologized to the President on some platforms and I hope the matter will be resolved, he opined.
