The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said the Mahama government is desperate to convince Ghanaians that it is working hard to deliver on its mandate despite their obvious failure.
This government is acting quite desperately to prove to Ghanaians that they have done something, said the partys Deputy Communication Director, Anthony Karbo.
This comes on the back of claims made by Agric Minister, Fiifi Kwetey, that President John Mahama`s two years in office has immensely benefited Ghanaians more than the eight years of the Kufour-led NPP administration.
In an earlier response, the office of the ex-President described the claims as insincere and baseless.
His spokesperson, Frank Agyekum told Citi News, the claim is the biggest joke Ive ever heard and I think its very insincere, stressing that there is no way you can compare John Kufuors eight years to the two years.
Nonetheless, Anthony Karbo opined that Ghanaians wish they were still under the leadership of ex-President John Kufuor, who brought about enormous development in all sectors of the economy.
Today, as we speak, Ghanaians would have preferred to be under President Kufuors administration, but it is quite clear that the record of this government cannot be compared in any way to President Kufuors eight-year administration, he remarked.
According to him, Ghanaians are fully aware of the clear difference between Ghana`s transformation under the NPP and the woes the country has been plunged into under the Mahama-led administration.
For a Minister to come out and make this statement without any proof, without any substance to back up these claims is most unfortunate, he said.
Karbo stressed that under President Kufuors government, we handed over a Ghana that was positive with lots of social developments, we handed over an economy that was growing, a middle-income economy; we handed over that to this government.
He thus challenged Mr. Kwetey to come out with evidence to substantiate his claims.
