Ex-CEO Of KATH Bags GhC700, 000 Over Illegal Dismissal

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital(KATH) has been ordered by a Kumasi High Court to pay a whopping GHc700,000 ( Seven Hundred Thousand New Ghana Cedis) to a former Chief Executive Officer of the hospital, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, as a judgment debt compensation for his wrongful dismissal from the hospital in 2009. The hospital has until January 15, this year, to pay the amount or have its property confiscated to defray the cost of the damage, after the court ruled in favour of the ex-CEO, who was dismissed under controversial circumstances barely six years ago. The Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mr. Kwame Frimpong, has declined to comment on the matter, when reached for his reaction, explaining that the case falls within the purview of the Attorney General and the Ministry of Health. Dr. Nsiah Asare filed a suit in 2009, challenging his dismissal as the Chief Executive Officer of KATH, by the then President Mills-led administration. The former CEO had all his entitlements withdrawn upon his dismissal, though a contractual agreement signed between him and the hospital was due to expire in 2010.
