Fire Will Not Affect Health Delivery

The huge fire which has destroyed the Central Medical Stores in Tema will not affect healthcare delivery in the country, the Ministry of Health has stated. The Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Tony Goodman, said although the fire has spread to the engineering workshop of the Health Ministry, destroying some distribution trucks, it would not impede the delivery of drugs to various parts of the country. "For now the hospitals have stock which will last for some time and other supplies are on their way and so the Ministry is going to construct a structure to contain them" he told sit-in host of 'Kokrokoo' Nana Yaw Kesse. Mr Goodman added that "hospitals will not be affected until two to three months but before then we are talking to our partners and donors to get more supplies within the shortest possible time". According to PEACE FM correspondent, Ohene Amponsah, Fire fighters have been able to douse the fire which started at about 9am Tuesday. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to ascertain the cause of the fire.
