Nepotism Killing Work @ Bui Dam Amissah Arthur Fingered!

A healthy and serene environment for productivity and effective job delivery at the Bui Power Authority has come under serious threat as the debilitating canker of nepotism appears to be rocking the operations of the relatively new hydropower dam, this paper has gathered. Insiders revealed to this paper that that some senior officials, including the Chief Executive Officer of Bui Power Authority (BPA) Mr. Jabesh Amissah Arthur, are allegedly busy fixing square-pegs-in-round-holes at duty post at the Bui power installation on grounds that they are connected with them as either family or friends. A source whom we garb with the cloak of anonymity revealed that some 31 Technical Engineer HND and Technician Engineer Part 3 certificate holders were sent for training at the Volta River Authority (VRA) in 2014 under the auspices of the Bui Power Authority (BPA) but after the training, the CEO Mr. Amissah Arthur selected some 12 people, who according to the workers meet no criteria or merit but rather on pure family considerations to head some key positions. They alleged that at least two of the worst performing students (names withheld) who even entered the training program with a lower certificate of Technician Part 3 are now heading Departments without going through the mill, where as one has to go through stages of Junior B11 and B12 before Senior b13. Meanwhile, others with HND who even did better in terms of performance from the same training were rather starting from B11. For example, they alleged that under Power Operations, there were four main divisions namely; Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Operating as well as Protection & Control, but the man (name withheld) in charge of the Electrical Maintenance has Mechanical background whiles the friend of the CEOs son with Agric engineering background is the Manager of Operating. The son of the CEOs own friend also maintains the administrative position. But in a separate interview with the Spokesperson of the CEO, Mr. Wumbilla admitted knowing little about the happenings at the Dam site and rather referred The New Crusading GUIDE to speak to Jonathan Odonkor who is the Power Operations Director. But, Mr. Odorkor also indicated that he will attempt to answer what he could and referred the reporter back to the Mr. Wumbilla for further details. On the major question of the criteria for elevating or promoting the trainees at the site, the Operations Director indicated that it was purely based on performance at the VRA training and that at the site. But this could clearly not hold because there are records of two of the worst performers at the training school who are now heads of departments and also unequivocally true that since their return to site after training they had never held a spanner at the site, but rather been following the Chinese workers and writing their own reports so that criteria also falls flat. Sensing a possible agitation within the rank and file of the workers some weeks after their manipulations, the company held a special meeting for the 12 Apostles who were elected to managerial positions to admonish them that they were now the eye of the company and that they should tell on their colleagues or report them if they hear anything untoward from them. Stay tuned for more revelations on the aftermath of this interview with the Operations Director.
