EC Urges Media To Be Circumspect In Election Reportage

The Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan has entreated media practitioners to be circumspect in reporting issues pertaining to elections. He noted that there is the tendency of chaos when inaccurate information on elections is broadcast. Dr Afari-Gyan said election reportage is a collective responsibility of both the E.C and the media and urged the journalists to strive to provide accurate information and education about elections to the public. He made the remarks at a capacity building workshop organised by the E.C for journalists in Ho. Meanwhile, the Western Regional Office of the Electoral Commission has taken the media through electoral processes to build their capacity in election reportage.
