The Spirit Of The Nation Behind The Black Stars Has Diminished - Kwamena Duncan

Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwamena Duncan has bemoaned the lack of national spirit in the country's senior team, the Black Stars. Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Kwamena Duncan expressed worry over the defeat of the Black Stars' first match against Senegal in the ongoing AFCON. Following the humiliating defeat of the Black Stars in the 2015 African Nations Cup, the NPP Central Regional Chief Scribe wondered why the Sports Minister, Mahama Ayariga and the Football Association have failed to disclose the budget for the team even as the tournament has begun. To Kwamena Duncan, the spirit of the nation behind the national team has diminished due to the poor governance system of the Mahama-led government. How do you mobilize the spirit of the nation behind the team? How do you do that? he questioned. Addressing the issue on the programme, Kwamena Duncan noted that Ghanaians will only "begin to rally and give them [Black Stars] the necessary prayer and support" when the football administrators and the players revise their notes and step up their game. Also touching on the issue, the Central Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress, Allotey Jacobs appealed to the Ghana Football Association to suspend all Black Stars international matches for 3 years, to resolve all conflicts and further rebuild the team.
