With a passion to save lives, Vodafone Foundation has presented an incubator valued at GH�10,000 to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Nsawam Government Hospital. The donation, which was done in collaboration with Rotary Club of Accra-Labone, aims at supporting the hospital to improve the health of newly born babies and reducing premature death in the district. A representative of Vodafone Ghana Foundation, Mr Carlis Arko, said he was hopeful the equipment would help reduce child mortality at the hospital. �Aside Healthfest and Heathline, Vodafone�s involvement in child health shows the telecom giant�s commitment to improve child survival,� he added. The Vice-President of the Rotary Club, Awura Adwoa Kye, explained high infant mortalities reported at the hospital informed the decision to partner Vodafone acquire the incubator. Dr Kofi Ablorh, the Medical Superintendent of Nsawam Government Hospital thanked the benefactors for their support and reiterated that the timely provision of the incubator would help save lives. Dr Ablorh said in 2014, a total of 542 new-born babies were admitted to the hospital. Out of the number, 83 were born prematurely, 18 were referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) and 11 of them died, representing 13 per cent.
