Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly Adjudged Best In 2014
The Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly has been nominated the best among all 216 metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies in Ghana for 2014.
West Africa International Magazine scored the assembly high in governance, while its Chief Executive, Afrifah Yamoah-Ponkoh, received special mention for good leadership.
A letter dated January 8, 2015 and signed by the magazine’s Chief Executive, Dr. Dee Otibu-Asare cites the various projects initiated and executed to improve the lives of people as part of reason for the accolade.
The West Africa International Magazine's Annual Scheme Award, instituted six years ago, seeks to recognize corporate entities and individuals whose achievements contribute strategically to Africa’s development.“By virtue of your style of governance and numerous projects your Assembly initiated and executed, our Award Selection Board, after survey, has nominated Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly as the Municipal assembly of the year 2014”, Dr. Dee Otibu-Asare stated in a letter addressed to the assembly.
As part of the award, the magazine will dedicate a publication to the honor award recipients by publishing their profile and their contributions to the economic development of West Africa.Mr. Yamoah- Ponkoh is happy his efforts have been noticed.“It [award] means a lot because for the assembly within this short time to be awarded by such a reputable organization, I think it is something better not only for the assembly but the good people of the Ejisu-Juaben municipality", Mr Yamaoh-Ponkoh.
He says he is energized by the award which proves the efficiency of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).“It goes on to prove a point that the government of the NDC headed by his Excellency John Mahama is doing well for the good people of Ejisu-Juaben. I am now energized because little did I know that I was being monitored”, Mr. Yamoah-Ponkoh explained.The Ejisu-Juaben Municipality under the leadership Yamoah-Ponkoh has recorded tremendous improvement in infrastructure, health, education and security among others.
