Stop Trivializing Rape Case With Consent Forms - Sir John Advises Maurice Ampaw

A Private Legal Practitioner, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has been advised by the former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie to stop teaching wrongly the law concerning rape case.

According to Maurice Ampaw, it would even be better if guys make the ladies fill consent forms before beginning the actual sex act.

“..Men must make women fill sex consent forms before having sex with them. It is to help men have documentary evidence of the lady’s permission to have sex in case they turn around to make any accusation of sex.

“One can even digitally record the ladies when they are moaning and groaning out of ecstasy,” he said on Okay FM.

This advice comes on the heels of a rape allegation made against Entertainment icon, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), by a 19-year-old lady.

But reacting to this issue on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Sir John as he is known in politics says the law on rape case is dangerous to the extent that after the lady has given her consent to the sexual act and even perform some rounds of the sex, she can still ask the man to stop immediately.

He further pinpointed that it is not about the number of love letters and romantic messages, but the game of sex stops immediately she changes her mind, thus any further movement from the man can be considered as rape according to the law.

“One can write and agree to a consent form but the final words remain with the lady and so if she says no, you have to stop. What Maurice Ampaw is teaching is not the case in rape charges; the case is that if she says no, you should stop, no matter whatever form she has filled...the danger is that rape charge has no bail unless the accused complains of ill-health….rape case is so dangerous that we don’t have to trivialize it with consent forms;....if she says stop what use is the consent form? Men have to exercise patience and women have to understand before sex….rape case is like a murder case,” he advised.

He however warned that men should be careful with women when it comes to sex issues as a woman who hates a man can frame him up in a rape case; thus the man will remain in police custody for as long as the case will last in court before he is cleared from the rape charges.
