The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, has warned staff of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to desist from indulging in acts which will deny the assembly of revenue.
He said the collective interest of the assembly should be the priority of every staff in order to achieve its goals and objectives. According to him, any staff found to have embezzled revenues meant for the assembly should not expect to be pardoned.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister gave this warning when he paid a working visit to the assembly. He did not mince words when he said any individual, whether a relative of the minister or the metropolitan chief executive, should face the same sanction if caught to have embezzled revenue collected on behalf of the assembly.
The visit, he explained, is to acquaint himself with the development at the assembly and that being a minister requires going round to see what is happening and not what has been told.
He urged them to do away with their political colouration and rather concentrate on how best to give their all.
The minister’s visit coincided with the visit of some chiefs in the Greater Accra Region, including the Ga Mantse, Nii Boni Tackie Adama Latse II, Ingleshie Alata Mantse, Obrempong Kojo Ababio, Nii Dodoo Nsaki, Otublohum Mantse and the Osu Mantse, Nii Kinka Dowuona.
The Mayor, Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, who welcomed the minister, outlined a number of projects which the assembly is undertaking.
He said the construction of 13 modern markets will start this year, adding that 12 new Millennium City Schools have been constructed with 111 ongoing and at different stages.
Later, the regional minister and the mayor visited the Lavender Hill Slamson site, the Okpoti schools complex, the Dansoman Sewerage plant, as well as at Abavanna Down, where there was a sod-cutting for a new three-storey 18 unit classroom school project.
