The Ministry of Transport has revised plans to outdoor the strategic investor for the new national carrier.

According to the Ministry, the plan would be delayed by six months due to the need for certification of the national carrier as an international airline.

Transaction advisors for the project PriceWater HouseCoopers Ghana has presented the pre-feasibility report of the project to government.

PWC is expected to advise government on the ownership structure, funding, business model, routes and how to effectively run the project on a public-private partnership basis.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Business news the Deputy Minister of Transport Joyce Bawa Mogtari said both local and international airlines have expressed interest in partnering government to establish the national airline.

“We have actually had to revise the date for the completion of the process largely because the certification of an international airline would take about six months to complete. So in that regard instead of having to outdoor this process in March we have realized we will have to extend the period to the next six months”, she confirmed.

Domestic Airline, Africa World Airlines (AWA) earlier confirmed to Citi Business News it was interested in partnering government in the establishment of the new national airline.

Government has also questioned the credibility of media reports alleging PriceWater HouseCoopers Ghana was warning against the establishment of the National Airline.
