NPP's Won Gbo Demo A Social GatheringThey Are Just Stretching Their Legs Allotey Jacobs

The Central Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has pooh-poohed on the ‘Won Gbo’ demonstration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NPP led a massive demonstration on Wednesday over the ongoing power crisis in the country as well as the economic challenges facing the country and government’s inability to solve them.

Giving his take on the demonstration, Allotey Jacobs, contributing to a panel discussion on PeaceFM's "Kokrokoo" Morning Show, said ‘it is an exercise in futility’.

It is a social gathering and an exercise in futility because we are putting measures in place to make sure that the dumsor stops. By 2016 dumsor will be a thing of the past,” he said on Wednesday’s edition of the show.

According to him, the issues being raised by the opposition party are already being dealt with by government and that the NPP is just taking advantage of Ghanaians.

It is political opportunism and pretense…dumsor dumsor does it kill? Knowing well that you are a very big opposition party, what are your alternatives? They are inciting the mob to motivate the party members that we have a lot of followers. They are just stretching their legs. Because the party is dying, one way to revive it is by moblising people; this tells you the party is not solidly on the ground. I can assure the people of this country that by June the 12/24 hour power shedding will stop…this will not change the minds of Ghanaians. We will come out of darkness,” he forecasted.
