Where Is Jake Obetsebi Lamptey?

He was until now one of New Patriotic Party [NPP’s] strong outspoken leading member whose zeal as a campaign manager for the party led to Mr. John Agyekum Kufour winning the presidency in 2001.

Years after, Jacob Otanka "Jake" Obetsebi-Lamptey led the elephant fraternity as chairman but failed to win power with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as flagbearer on two occasions, thus in 2008 and 2012.

Despite his sweat to make sure the party comes in to power in 2012, Jake was accused of mismanaging party funds when he was seeking votes to be maintained as the party’s national chairman last year.

Prior to the NPP’s internal election, it was alleged that, Nana Akufo-Addo had called on Jake to step down from contesting for the post of the National Chairman after Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong had accused him [Jake] of theft.

The former NPP chairman was said to have expressed some bitterness when he lost his position to Mr. Paul Afoko.

Ever since his defeat, Jacob Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey has not been seen anywhere near the current NPP national executives and all party activities.

Nonetheless, Jake who has been vibrant in most NPP’s protest against the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC] was missing in action in the party’s recent infamous “Wↄn Gbo” demonstration.
