The Government has lifted the moratorium on international conferences and meetings in the country, which was placed to prevent the Ebola Viral Disease in other West African from spreading to Ghana.
A statement, issued on Thursday by the Ministry of Communications, and signed by Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Communications Minister, said: “The moratorium placed on the holding of International Conferences and fora in Ghana on account of the recent Ebola outbreak in the sub-region, has been lifted forthwith until otherwise directed.”
The moratorium was placed in August 2014, after the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission decided that international conferences and gatherings with the potential of spreading Ebola be suspended unless absolutely essential and well-guided.
The West African sub-region is seeing a decline and entering into the recovery phase of the disease, which has claimed more than 8,000 lives.
