Deputy Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor has commended the Minority in Parliament for not repeating what appears to be their usual attitude whenever the President is delivering his State of the Nation Address.

John Jinapor expressed profuse delight that the Minority did not heckle President John Dramani Mahama in his address to the nation.

President John Mahama yesterday gave his State of the Nation Address on the floor of Parliment, where he outlined some major government interventions and initiatives laid down to salvage the economy.

As the President recounted the social interventions by his government in the energy, education and water sectors among others; the Minority remained silent as dead.

This, some critics argue, was unsual of the Minority side who have since been very vociferous in Parliament and would bring incribed objects to the House to heckle the President as he delivers his speech.

Due to the attitude change that the Minority exhibited in the Legislative House, John Jinapor told host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" that the Minority deserve to be commended.

He however admitted to have "missed their heckling a bit" because to him, it added up to the beauty in Parliament.

“I missed their heckling a bit. Last year, it was too much. It was getting out of hand but it’s all part of the beauty of the Parliamentary system…But well and good, I mean that was the decision of the minority. It’s commendable.”
