GREDA Commends Prez For Proposing Regulatory Body

The Ghana Real Estate Developers Association has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his intention to establish a regulator for the real estate industry.

The President of GREDA, Kwakye Dopoah Dei said “We are most grateful for this call as GREDA has been advocating for a regulator for some time now.  We will collaborate with the state and all stakeholders to make this a reality.”

The GREDA president was speaking in Accra during the inauguration of a nine-member executive council to steer the affairs of the association.

The council members were sworn into office by Justice George Aboagye Tandoh, a High Court Judge.

President Mahama, during his presentation of the state of the nation’s address to Parliament last week said a closer collaboration and partnership with government and other stakeholders in developing technical and financial policies could help address the challenges facing the housing and real estate industry.

Mr. Dei was of the view that the establishment of the regulator would help bring sanity in the housing and real estate industry and ensure standards are upheld to forestall the collapse of buildings.

The President thanked the members of the association for the confidence reposed in the council members to lead the association, stressing that they would work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them.

In this regard he entreated the Council members to unite and work together to address the challenges facing the association.

“The challenges we face today as members of GREDA are wide and varied, but with determination, honesty and unity we can overcome the odds and fly high with the view to succeeding in this turbulent economy with all its unpredictabilities,” Mr Dei stressed.
