B-Ahafo Police Hunt For Farmers Killer

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Police have mounted a manhunt for the murderer of a 49-year-old farmer at Jema Zongo, in the Kintampo South District.

It is therefore, appealing to the public to assist with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspected murderer.

Briefing the media on Friday in Sunyani, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said Asumidi Dawuda, the deceased, was a Sisala man, who lived at Jema Zongo with his family.

He said on February 12, this year, he went to his farm alone and did not return, and a report was made to the police.

He said the police went to the farm and found the body of the deceased with multiple wounds on his chest and stomach with the intestines gushed out.

ASP Tawiah said Dawuda’s body and his footwear were found about  150 metres away from the farm with footprints leading to the farm.

He said “Dawuda is suspected to have been chased by the assailant on his farm for a while before being killed with a knife while his gun was also taken away by his assailant”.

ASP Tawiah said a jack knife, a torchlight and two live cartridges were found lying beside his body and that, the police suspected foul play and was therefore working seriously to arrest the culprit.
