The Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel K. Sarpong and his deputy, Joseph Yammin has been relieved of their positions with immediate effect. 

A statement signed by Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Communications Minister said Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Eric Opoku will act as the Ashanti Regional Minister until a substantive minister is appointed.

It is however unclear the reason for this action.

Even though he will not give reasons for his accusation, he said the Regional Minister was inciting the youth against the current NDC executives in the Ashanti Region.

In reaction to this, Samuel Sarpong refused to 'descend into the gutters with Brogya Genfi'.

In a terse text message he sent to Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of PEACE FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', Samuel Sarpong wrote: "Kwame I will not enter the gutters with Brogya Genfi. Thank you very much Samuel Sarpong”.
