Breast Care Int�l & BCI Celebrate Int�l Women�s Day In Kumasi

Each year International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women's groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.

Make It Happen’’ is the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day, encouraging effective action for advancing and recognising women.

With the believe that when We Empower Women, We Empower Humanity; Breast Care International, a Kumasi based non-governmental organisation (NGO) with the vision to be a leading breast healthcare organisation in Africa, providing an enabling environment to control the incidence of breast Cancer in women and Peace and Love Hospitals in conjunction celebrated this year’s IWD in a grand style.

Apart from organising a massive free breast cancer education, counselling, guidance and clinical screening to precede the celebration in Nkoranza on the 6th of March, 2015; they organised games for the women and also men with New Age Group of Companies to keep them fit. Some of the games includes, soccer, tag of peace, sack racing, lime on a spoon etc.

The day presented an opportunity for the staff to show leadership by example. Lack of exercise happens to be one of the risk factors of breast cancer and several other diseases and its healthy people that can move a nation forward also to create awareness about breast cancer.

In her speech before the kick-off, Dr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Wiafe Addai who is the President of BCI and C.E.O of Peace and Love Hospitals motivated the women present, congratulated them and also educated them about Breast Cancer, the causes and the effects on the socio-economic growth of a nation. She believes regular exercise contribute to good health, therefore the 8th March every year, will be celebrated to keep both women and men fit.

The event ended with winning by the BCI/PLH team of one goal to nil on the women side and two (2) goals to One (1) on the men side. Both games were won by Breast Care International / Peace And Love Hospital Team.
